Samson and Delilah, Judges 16
The Old Testament is filled with love stories, but Samson and Delilah is more a story of betrayal and revenge. Samson was a faithful son of God and had been blessed with great strength. Only he and God knew that his strength lay in his long hair. If his hair were ever cut he would become weak.
When he meets Delilah she is working for the Philistines to discover the secret of Samson’s strength. He tricks her by telling her three different lies about how to subdue him. After much nagging he finally tells her the truth and she has his hair cut while he’s sleeping, and leaves him to be tortured by the Philistines.
