David and Goliath
Many characters in the Bible became heroes or messengers of God when they were hundreds of years old, but David was just a boy when he helped defeat Goliath. According to the story, Goliath was nearly 9 feet tall, but David did not hesitate to silence his hateful words with a slingshot. The faith of a child is discussed many times throughout the Bible.
David found someone to tend the sheep while he was gone, showing that he was very responsible even at such a young age. When David arrived he found the army cowering in fear of Goliath, saying that their God would not help them in battle. David trusted that God would help him fight the giant. Even as a young boy his faith was strong and with God’s help he defeated Goliath with five stones and one sling.
