Baby Moses
The Pharaoh of Egypt felt threatened by all the children that the Hebrew slaves were producing, so he ordered that no more male children should live. Moses’ mother wanted to protect her son from this tragic fate, so she placed him in a papyrus basket and set him afloat in the river. She covered the basket with pitch and tar to keep him safe and she followed him to watch the basket.
Moses’ basket was found by an Egyptian princess, the daughter of the Pharaoh. She took the baby and adopted him as her own. Moses was raised in the royal court as a prince of the Egyptians. When Moses was about 80 years old God sent him back to Egypt to lead the Hebrews out of slavery.
