Bright Angel Trail in Grand Canyon
Backpacker Magazine reports that this steep 4,380 foot climb can be a huge challenge when paired with the high temperatures surrounding the Grand Canyon. The temperature can reach as high as 110 degrees Fahrenheit, and because of this, many of the issues climbers and hikers face are related to the threat of heat-stroke.
Those hiking Bright Angel Trail are advised to plan their trip according to the weather’s spikes and decreases in temperatures. It is also recommended to take frequent rests in order to cool down during the 10 mile hike, and if possible, complete the return back in the evening hours with a headlamp, when the temperature may be more bearable.
