Feeding the Multitudes
The story of 5 Loaves and 2 Fish highlights how God provides for his children at all times. A crowd hears rumor of the teacher himself, Jesus, nearby. Understanding his reputation for healing the sick and mending the broken, they came to him to learn. Families traveled from all corners of the area to be touched by God’s son himself. The crowd was 5,000 people strong, all living in poverty and struggling just to survive. Jesus saw that all of the people, including men, women, and children, were fed with five loaves of bread and two small fish.
This story teaches that God has the ability to create abundance from almost nothing. It also Christians not to despair when they feel all is lost, as God has the ability to save believers and provide them with sustenance.
