The Black Dahlia
The Black Dahlia investigation involved the murder of a woman by the name of Elizabeth Short. Extremely gruesome and highly publicized throughout the media, Short was killed and heavily mutilated after death. Her killer has never been identified, and the case remains cold to this day.
After the Los Angeles Police Department failed to get results during early investigative processes, FBI assistance was requested. Unfortunately, the case became so talked about and notorious that public opinion made finding the truth difficult. Ultimately, over 50 people confessed to killing Elizabeth Short–each of whom was proven wrong. The case, while cold, remains in the hands of the FBI to this day.
