New Smyrna Beach
Sure, New Smyrna Beach, Florida is the shark encounter or shark-bite capital of the world. But, surfers Kern McNair and Skipper Eppelin were surprised with their close encounter with a Black Tip shark while surfing in the shallow end of the waterways.
This encounter occurred in 2008, when the Black Tip shark came rather close and rode the waterways with the pair. Although they came out of it unscathed, it was a scary experience none the less, mostly because the Black Tip shark is a larger species of shark. It seems that this shark had an interest in catching a wave with the two surfers.
