10 Things to Check in Your Credit Report

Inquiries

If you never applied for a rental unit, but you have a rental company’s information showing as an inquiry, this could be a major red flag. If you never applied for a new job in the past few months, but your report says you applied for several, you might be a victim of fraud or identity theft.

Make sure open inquiries were truly opened by you. If it shows applications, inquiries for credit lines, or increased credit lines, confirm that you actually requested these actions. If not, it is possible someone else may be using your social security number or the information is being posted to the wrong person’s report. Dispute anything that isn’t correct and make sure it is changed.
