Executing a Family
In Joshua 7:20-25, the mass murder wasn’t just of the first born in each family. Rather, it extended to murdering and executing entire families at a time. Achan had violated God’s orders to only take gold and silver, and rather pillaged the entire village.
He was later stoned to death. But, the Israelite people did not stop with killing Achan under God’s request. They also murdered his children and his animals. All were burned to death after Achan had admitted to his sin that he didn’t listen to God’s orders when going through Jericho.
