Jacob, Rebekah, and the Blessing, Genesis 27
Sibling rivalry is a common story theme in the Old Testament. In the story of Jacob and Rebekah a mother is pulling strings to favor one child over the other. Poor blind Isaac has no idea that his wife is playing such games.
Esau is the older brother and thus the one set to receive a blessing from his blind father. Rebekah wants her son Jacob to receive the blessing so she covers his body in animal furs. The purpose of the furs is to fool the blind father into thinking that Jacob is his older and much hairier brother to steal the blessing.
