Jonah agreed to travel to Nineveh and share God’s message, but he secretly set sail in the wrong direction. He and his shipmates ended up trapped in a terrible storm and realized that the storm was allowed by God because of Jonah’s disobedience. When they realized this Jonah asked to be cast overboard to save the ship and its crew.
God had other plans and sent a great fish to swallow Jonah. For three days and nights Jonah was in the belly of the fish. Finally Jonah cried out and repented and the Lord told the fish to vomit Jonah out of its belly once he had repented.
