Mass Effect 3
Commander Shepard is responsible for saving the galaxy in the original Mass Effect. It was so popular that it spawned three sequels, the third of which earned a perfect score from about 30 media outlets. This included The New York Daily News and the Official Xbox Magazine.
Mass Effect also caused a bit of controversy, as it was one of the first games to portray the death of a child in-game in a violent manner. Some reviewers said that the game went too far, while others suggested it wasn’t portrayed in a manner that glorified the death. Above all else, though, the game maintained its popularity throughout.
