Herd Immunity
If nothing else, getting yourself and your child the proper vaccinations helps to protect those who can’t get the vaccinations. In some cases, vaccinations are dangerous when other serious medical conditions are involved. Some people simply can’t get them and they rely on that “net” that vaccinated communities provide.
This phenomenon is known as herd immunity and it only works if the majority of the “herd” is vaccinated. Since they are vaccinated, they don’t carry the threat of the disease with them, so those who have serious medical issues or cannot be vaccinated against deadly disease, don’t have to worry about contracting it from you or your child.
