There are a few reasons Capitola Beach is included on the list of California’s dirtiest beaches. This beach has a history of highly polluted water and has appeared on various lists of polluted beaches for over six year.
This city beach is known to be very congested and visibly polluted, even with the pollution issues. Its sand is said to have large amounts of kelp and trash present. The high amount of garbage gives the area an unpleasant odor, and the crowds make it hard to maneuver around.
