Jim Walton
Sam Walton was the founder of Walmart, and Jim Walton, his youngest child, took the company over when his father and brother both passed away. He currently has a net worth of $35.4 billion. He is the current Chief Executive Officer of Walmart, and works with his brother’s wife, who has a large holding in Walmart.
Walmart is worth approximately $573 billion and has over 11,000 stores in 27 countries. Recently, Walmart announced it was going to raise its wages up to $9 an hour in the United States in 2014, and up to $10 in 2016. Labor advocates are trying to get the wage up to $15 an hour. In similar situations, the increase in hourly wages has resulted in a growth in the business in general, so it is not expected that an increase in employee wages will have much of an impact on the Walton family fortunes.
