They Provide Protection
You will never walk by a home that has a sign saying, “Caution, cat in the yard.” With dogs, if you need an extra set of eyes to watch over your property, or if you are away at work for the day, dogs serve as an added defense mechanism for your property. Even the most docile dog is going to put more fear into a burglar than a cat would, so you can worry less about threats than if you have a cat.
Furthermore, cats can’t make loud noises or bark when to scare people away. Cats are often able to use their claws for protection, but it is rare that a cat would use this feature to protect or defend its owners. Dogs have been known to attack or defend owners from any number of threats.
