Nevada City
People started settling in Nevada City in 1849 during the California Gold Rush. Nevada means “snow-covered,” which is fitting for its nearby snow-covered mountains. This city is located in Nevada County, just 60 miles north of Sacramento and 28 miles north of Auburn, and has a total population of less than 3,000 inhabitants.
If you thought Arvin was small, consider Nevada City. This city is another example of a dangerous small town in California. It has a violent crime rate of 12.26, with 36 violent crimes committed in one year. If this were the only violent crimes that occurred in a city of 500,000, it would likely not be considered as dangerous.
