Arvin
Another small city on the list has one of the highest crime rates in the state. Arvin, California, is just south of Bakersfield and a little north of Los Angeles. The city is part of the Bakersfield metropolitan statistical area and is located in Kern County. Arvin has a total population of just over 15,000 people. The violent crime rate in the area is 12.13.
The city of Arvin is proof that not all small towns are safe and quiet, and not all large metro areas are dangerous. There were 187 violent crimes reported in 2010, which for a town of 15,000 people is extremely high. This also makes the small town one of the most dangerous in California.
