The LaLaurie House
Fans of televisions “American Horror Story: Coven” will recognize the LaLaurie name. Kathy Bates portrayed the sadistic Delphine LaLaurie in the show. Based on a real person, the show embellishes quite a bit of the original story–one that is violent and gory all in its own right.
The LaLaurie House was originally the home of a slave owner. It is said that the home, located in the French Quarter, is haunted by the abused, tortured, and mutilated slaves that once lived there. People who visit say they can hear screaming and the sound of begging, and have found strange liquid spills on furniture when no one was present to spill anything. One thing’s for certain–although the house has been turned into luxury apartments, it was once the site of one of the most gory torture scenes ever discovered in America.
