The Sultan’s Palace

Located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, this location has plenty of spooky history. The house known as The Sultan’s Palace or the Gardette-LaPrete House, was also referred to as a house of horrors back in the 1800s. The owner was a wealthy man with multiple wives and children. It is said that he had a harem of women and young boys that he kept as slaves and prisoners to do his bidding.

The man was buried alive in the courtyard after his family and harem were chopped to pieces by an unknown assailant. Since that time, his angry spirit is thought to be the cause of paranormal activity there today. Strange happenings like the Turkish Sultan himself floating by and strange noises said to be his ghost, forever haunt the house in search of the pirates who killed him.
