Albany
Albany is the New York State capital. Based on latest FBI and the city’s police department reports, Albany is seventh on list of NY’s 10 most dangerous cities. Of all the other cities in this list, it is probably the most diverse. The numerous unusual shootings in the city have been blamed on Albany-Troy gang war, always placing the city’s police on both sides of the Hudson River on a 24/7 alert.
In 2013, the city experienced 33 shootings, 22 of which were recorded during the cold winter months of August to December. Within the first two months of 2014, the number of shootings were six, compared to two over the same period in 2013, state Division of Criminal Justice Services show.
