Syracuse

An overall crime rate of 50.35 per thousand residents is just too high for the 145,934-populated city. According to statics from the city’s PD, at least 12 people who shot someone last year in Syracuse are still at large. In fact, only 45 per cent of the reported cases of homicide ended in arrests.

The SPD spokesman, Sgt. Thomas Connellan, said the department is working hard to ensure that its homicide and general crime clearance rate increase. The number of shootings had generally been falling until 2012, before suffering a surprise upswing in 2013. 2014 was actually considered the most murderous year in the history of the city.
