Located near Hennessey Lake, Chappellet Winery is just far enough off the beaten path to qualify as a hidden gem. Each of the grapes, in every bottle, is grown hillside instead of in the valley, producing a long list of gorgeous wines with complex notes. You’ll find everything from delicately dry Cabernet Sauvignon to sweet, rich Zinfandels at this winery.
If you want to visit this semi-exclusive location, you’ll need to garner some patience. They do host several events each year, but wait lists fill up quickly. Wine tastings are composed of a 90-minute tour of the vineyard with gorgeous views. Afterward, you’ll curl up with the best they have to offer in the afternoon breeze.
