This story describes how the term “Good Samaritan” came about. One of many parables in the New Testament, it teaches that people should all focus on helping and supporting one another. This is said to be especially true for those in need.
The good Samaritan story tells the tale of how one of the Samaritans stops to help someone who is injured and sick. As Jesus looks on, the Samaritan bandages and provides compassionate care toward the individual. This is one of the only stories in the New Testament where Jesus speaks the greatest commandment ever given–to love one another. Loving thy neighbor is considered to be one of the most important commands ever given by God. It also gives instructions to help followers practice his commands.
