The Woman at the Well tells a story of love. It highlights how God provides unconditional and nonjudgmental compassion for all of his children. Belonging to a group of people called the Samaritans, usually hated by those of the Jewish faith, a woman attends a local well to draw water in the morning. While others shunned her, Jesus reached out to her and asked her to draw him a cup of water.
By doing this, Jesus was technically making himself “unclean”.” Because the Messiah can never truly be unclean, this was his way of showing the other Jewish people that God holds no judgments. He also offered to give her the Living Water of Christ himself–a symbolic allegory for having faith in God.
