This story took place shortly after the story of five Loaves, two fish. In this narration, the disciples are caught in a storm in a boat. Worried that they are about to meet their end at the hands of the wild water, they call for God. Jesus comes to them, walking on the water. Each sailor is afraid, thinking they are seeing a ghost or they have already died.
In reality, Jesus comes to them to remind them that God is present at all times. He is protecting them, regardless of what they go through or what they experience. Even if the storm should take their lives, God will bring them to the kingdom of Heaven if they are truly faithful. This story also reminds followers that God appears in many forms–some you may not even recognize.
