West Virginia

Wild and wonderful West Virginia comes in at number 3 with a heartbreaking 320,000 or more people in poverty. Even sadder is that it is estimated that at least 28%, or 90,000, of those people are children.

West Virginia’s median income averages $40,000 and although there was a slight increase in the median income, it was not more than 0.31%. This places a horrifying 10% of the state in extreme poverty.
