But, the cost of living in Illinois may actually come out to be more than it would be in a state with higher income taxes.
Although Illinois state income taxes are low, the state sales tax and personal property taxes are higher than in many other states. Yet many families find Illinois to be the perfect mix of rural and city living and wouldn’t trade their state no matter what the taxes may be.
