Shakermaker

This song by Oasis was written by lead guitarist, Noel Gallagher. Many believe that “Shakermaker” is an example of Gallagher’s habit of borrowing from old music.  The melody for the song was taken from the Coca Cola song, “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing,” which was released in 1971, many years before Oasis even became a band.

This case of infringement was settled out of court, with The New Seekers being awarded a large sum of $500,000 in damages, plus royalties from profits made by Oasis from Shakermaker.
