Ghostbusters
Huey Lewis was approached to write the original song for this movie but declined. When this happened, the actual writer, Ray Parker, Jr., borrowed a little too much from Huey’s song, “I Want a New Drug,” and was hit with a huge lawsuit. Both songs were popular music hits, but the Ghostbusters theme song resulted in a number of spin offs and popularity from the success of the movie.

The details of the settlement were confidential until 2001 when Lewis commented on the payment on a VH1 episode. Parker then sued Lewis for breach of contract.
