This books was first published in 2012 by Katherine Tegen Books in the U.S. (an imprint of HarperCollins) and HarperCollins Children’s Books in the U.K. The second in the Divergent trilogy is the sequel to the first book, where we are introduced to post apocalyptic world of Chicago. A war now looms and the conflict between the factions in the series is growing, causing uncertainty in an already dangerous world.
The main character, Tris, faces several questions of grief, politics, and how the world works in this sci-fi thriller. In 2014, Insurgent sold over 1.3 million paper back copies, slightly fewer than the first book of the trilogy but still close behind. The film adapation for Insurgent debuted in 2015.
