The Shark in “Jaws”
Who’s afraid of a robotic shark? In the summer of 1975, the answer to that question would have been “everyone”. People were very much thinking about the scary shark in this film when they headed to the beach in the summer. This character was so popular that it became part of a ride at Universal Studios in California.
In the film, no one was ever quite sure where the shark was, and that’s one of the things that made the shark so dangerous for the characters and so thrilling for the viewers. But what gave everyone goose bumps were the two notes of music that heralded his arrival. Anyone who has seen the movie is familiar with the haunting “Jaws” theme that added an extra dimension to the devilish sea creature.
