The iconic Wicked Witch of the West is a bad witch, and the first time we see her, she’s on the lookout for one thing that will add to her powers: the ruby slippers of her recently deceased sister. When she finds out who is responsible, the cackling, green-skinned witch launches a treacherous offensive against Dorothy Gale.
The witch was so frightening when the film was released in 1939 that some small children had to be removed from the preview screening.
