Brown Rice
If you already have diabetes, your doctor may have warned you about “bad” carbs. This can include those found in white bread and white rice. However, you can still safely consume brown rice, as it has a lower glycemic index. There’s also evidence that doing so may help your heart over time. Brown rice has the ability to fill you up and keep you full for a long period of time, thanks to the high amount of fiber it contains.
To prepare a simple brown rice dish, prepare 1 cup of rice according to package directions. Next, chop one red onion and two large Tuscan kale leaves. Stir-fry both of these for three minutes in a large saucepan, adding just a dash of sea salt. Then, add the rice and fry for another minute and serve.
