Spend the day at the beach in Waikiki. You will be right in the heart of Waikiki with great views of the ocean and Diamond Head. You can go back and forth between beaching, shopping, eating, or just walking around soaking in the unique city on the beach. In the evening, the tiki torches light the path as tourists wander the streets and into the shops.
Enjoy the warm Hawaiian waters. The waves in Waikiki are usually very calm and perfect for learning to surf. You can rent longboards or paddleboards and pay for lessons. The “beach boys” who have tents right on the beach are a good option to easily rent boards and/or get lessons. Keep your eye out for photographers because for a nominal fee you they can give you a CD with all your pictures from your surfing adventure. Even a local like me will take my kids surfing down there (and brave the crowds) and periodically I’ll buy the photos. Some of those photos of our young kids are priceless!
