In 2005, during a vacation in Florida, 19-year old Armin Trojer was injured by a shark attack. When he was bitten in the ankle, first responders immediately rushed to his aid beach side. This incident occurred in chest-deep water off the Florida coast. It was the third shark attack in the state reported in this particular week.
This encounter also occurred in a popular tourist area. When Trojer was attacked by the shark, he was taken to the hospital for treatment of his wounds. Although injuries were sustained, it could have been much worse for the vacationer who was left with minor scarring to the area.
