Cap de la Houssaye

In October of 2011, a shark attacked occurred at Cape La Houssaye, a group of islands in the southern Indian Ocean. Jean-Pierre Castellani, a 51 year old man, fell into the water after the shark damaged the hull on his Hawaiian-style outrigger canoe. He was rescued from the water by a passing boat about 10 minutes later.

The attack didn’t result in any injuries, however, the boat was not as lucky as the passengers on it. It was later determined that the shark that had attacked the boat was a tiger shark, which measured approximately 2.5 meters long.
