When you apply for new work, the companies you apply with may request permission to access your credit reports, in order to determine if you are a viable candidate for the position. It is important if you are looking for work, to be aware of what your potential employer sees when accessing your credit report.
If you are unemployed, you have the right to apply for a free report, up to 60 days prior to looking for new work. So, whether you are looking for work, or were recently laid off, you have the right to view your information and find out what your credit report says about you.
