Get Everything in Writing
Sure, a collection agent will tell you things are resolved over the phone. They might claim they are no longer going to call or harass you and that your bill is paid off.
If you want to ensure you are fully protected by the law, get all agreements made between you and the agency, in writing. Request written statements, and ask for every communication to be documented. It is worth it to protect yourself.
