Don’t apply for every credit card you think you might qualify for. Every time you apply for credit, this information is reflected on your credit report as an inquiry. Each application can take points off your overall credit score, but that’s not the only thing it impacts.

Creditors don’t just look at your credit score. They compare your income to your debt and look at how much credit you have applied for. Applying for multiple cards within a short period of time can make you look desperate or can show that you have been denied by other creditors.
