Some runners enjoy embarking on a solo trek through Riverside County, while others prefer to train in an area with plenty of other runners. If you fall into the latter category, the Santa Ana River Trail is an excellent option for you. The trails are often packed, especially during weekends, so visit during that time if you feel safest when you are surrounded by others.
Some parts of the trail are under construction. The state plans to eventually make the Santa Ana River Trail part of a 100-mile trail that runs through numerous cities. If you plan to run rather than hike or bike, stick to the middle of the trail for now. That’s where the flattest terrain lies.
