Oakland is known for its history of political activism, professional sports establishments and large corporations, some of which are in industries like healthcare, Internet and tech, and producers of family items. The city is a transportation center point for the great Bay Area, and its delivering port is the fifth-busiest in the United States. It is one of the major western city ports in the U.S.
Oakland is another city whose crime has appeared in a number of pop culture references through the years. It probably isn’t a surprise that this is one of the most dangerous cities in California, especially with the high population of almost half a million. With this said, the highly-populated city has about 410,000 inhabitants and the highest violent crime rate in the state of 15.3.
