Many of the states on the east coast have a high tax burden, and New Jersey is no exception. This northeastern state has a tax rate of $8,830, which makes New Jersey #8 on the list of high-tax states. Luckily, New Jersey residents average the second-highest income in the United States.

New Jersey has a little bit of everything, from stunning lighthouses to historical attractions. Visitors can learn about farm life on an educational tour or catch a football, hockey, or basketball game at one of the state’s stadiums. There are also family-friendly water parks and hiking trails, as well as casinos and wineries.
