Property and violent crimes tend to be most prevalent in the city of Homestead. In the middle of the last decade the crime rates of the city decreased, but that trend has ended. The city plays host to more than 200 registered sex offenders.
On the current rise within the city are robberies, violent assaults, burglaries, and thefts. On an annual basis, there are close to 2,000 thefts committed in the city with a population of a mere 62,785. This puts Homestead at a crime ranking that indicates that nearly 68 per 1,000 residents have been a victim of a crime each year.
