Fort Pierce has a crime rate that is predominately composed of thefts. There have been reports that during the commission of a theft, a victim has been attacked and injured. Most often, the crimes that are committed are non-violent, but still leave the victims with a great deal of fear and anxiety. There are 249 sex offenders registered within the limits of the city.
