Now back to reviewing the actual SAT exam: The new SAT will not be offered until March 2016. So it only affects students taking the exam AFTER that point. It will not affect students taking the exams in this upcoming testing season. (Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan 2016, Feb 2016)
If you will be taking the SAT before March 2016 and applying in 2016 or 2017 nothing changes for you.
If you or your student will be taking the SAT in March 2016 or after, then the new materials will apply (but keep in mind that the skills tested will NOT change—math, reading, logic, grammar (vocabulary within reading and logic).
