Family Trip  to Oahu, Hawaii in 2016!

Day 1 – Food for the Family in Kailua

1. Breakfast/Brunch in Kailua – Boots & Kimos Homestyle Kitchen

Be prepared for a bit of a wait but it’s worth it. Everything is really good. Our family favorite is the Banana Pancakes and the Macadamia Nut syrup. Add a little maple syrup atop the Macadamia Nut syrup for a real treat! Map Website

2. Lunch or Dinner in Kailua – Hale Kealoha Restaurant

Traditional Hawaiian food done right and in a very family friendly setting. Their website says it all, “When you visit Hale Kealoha, you are coming home to your ‘ohana (family). We welcome you with open arms and authentic Hawaiian food made with love. Keeping our traditions alive and feeding our ‘ohana is our Kuleana (responsibility) … Welcome home!”

Everything is delicious, I’d get several different dishes and share them so you can taste it all. And you have to try the haupia, it’s a delicious traditional coconut gelatin dessert. They are closed Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Call to make reservations. And try and make it on the weekend to enjoy the live hawaiian music. Sit as close to the front as possible because it’s a lot of fun! Check yelp for more photos and reviews and enjoy! Map Website
