Day 2 – Food for the Family on the North Shore
MUST DO on North Shore – Matsumoto Shave Ice
The kids will be thrilled when you stop at Matsumoto for shave ice. Matsumoto is by far the most famous shave ice stop in the Islands (maybe the world). On a busy day they say they serve over 1,000 shave ice. Add the vanilla ice cream and top it with Lilikoi flavored shave ice, a zingy passion fruit. Pretty sure you’ll make a couple stops here while on the island. Map Website
For a little local tip, if you are like me and want a healthy alternative to shave ice when you’re stopping for the kids, walk across the street to Haleiwa Bowls and get the “Blend Bowl” (Acai bowl/smoothie with granola and the works). It’s so refreshing and delicious, it’s one of my very favorite things!
