According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you are entitled to a free credit report every 12 months from each of the major credit bureaus, TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian. In order to obtain the free reports, you can call a toll free number, request the reports by mail, or access each one online.
Each of the three provides a credit score, which may be different from your FICO score. Not all of the reports include the same information, so it’s important to regularly check each one, especially for errors or inconsistencies.
