Case Timeline
Many attorneys are ethical, but some are notorious for requesting constant continuances in an attempt to buy time to prepare for a case and/or charge clients more money. Before you hire an attorney, ask for an estimated timeline to figure out whether you will have numerous hearings and conferences prior to your final court date. This can help you budget accordingly and decide whether an attorney is a good fit for your needs.
In addition, find out what happens if there is a problem. What if the attorney has a personal problem? Who will take on your case? What happens if there is a delay of some kind? Find out as much as you can about the timeline so you won’t be surprised and disappointed if things go differently than you expect.
